| Oxford City Royal Regatta August 20 – 21, 2005 Second only to the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race…oh and the Henley Regatta…ok, third only to the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race and, of course, the Henley Regatta is the annual Oxford City Royal Regatta. It may not be as well known and as universally celebrated as it’s brothers but the OCRR is just as important to members of the rowing community and just as wonderful a celebration of the river Thames. Organized by the City of Oxford Rowing Club the Regatta extends over two days with a 1000m race on the Saturday and a 500m sprint on the Sunday, providing rowing teams with very public opportunities to show off their skills. Several hundred people take place and numerous events allow everyone from kids to the elderly to take part in the Regatta with prizes for the most successful clubs in both junior and senior events and races for novices and veterans alike as well as the money spinning Corporate Eights Race. Whether you come along as a competitor or as a spectator the Regatta is a truly excellent weekend out, witch chances to take in the views of this spectacular city and its all important river, support your preferred teams and celebrate the very important Oxford tradition of rowing.
