World Aids Day

Celebration of Life is London’s main event for World Aids Day. Held at the Church of St Paul in Covent Garden on December 1st, the theme of the event is Stigma & Discrimination.
A special candlelit service, Celebration of Life is an opportunity to remember those who have died of Aids and those still living with HIV who are sadly often forgotten now that the Aids cause is not so publicised as it once was.
The service is a multi faith one, aimed at anyone and everyone regardless of religion, written by someone living with HIV themselves. Including readings from sufferers and music from a gospel choir this event is planned to be both moving and uplifting as well as educational.
The service is organised by CARA and the National Aids Trust to raise awareness and support those living with HIV and Aids, Derek Bodell of the NAT says "Our message is that Aids has not gone away - in fact it is affecting more people today than ever before. Unaids estimates that a third of today’s fifteen year olds will die of Aids in the World’s most affected countries."
Both charities hope that the Celebration of Life will not only show support for the Aids cause but also raise awareness amongst people who may not have all the facts about the disease or who think it won’t affect them. Show your support by donning your red ribbon and lighting a candle at St Pauls Church.
