Fine dining in Oxford

Oxford may not have the culinary world salivating over its restaurants like London but it still offers some marvellous eateries that can fill your stomach and satisfy both your taste buds and your wallet.

Chiang Mai is unsurpassable for Thai. That seems to be the view of the masses and according to the restaurant’s website, "herbs and spices are flown in weekly from Bangkok", which is
pretty impressive. It is situated down a little alley called Kemp Hall passage and food is reasonably priced.

If you like a big slab of meat, go to Joe’s, so the saying goes. Joe’s is on Cowley Road and is fantastic for brunch, which is midway between breakfast and lunch. It is equally good at other times of day too for those looking for a burger or a steak.

One of the best Indian restaurants outside of India and more specifically in Oxford is Cafe Zouk on the High Street. The food is fresh and authentic and prices are very affordable. If you fancy something spicy and superbly cooked, head to Zouk.

The Grand Cafe, also on the High Street, is a touch of class and provides very decadent afternoon tea platters as well as good lunches. The feel of the place is the decadent 1920s and though a little pricey, this is perfect for a culinary treat once in a while.

Edamame is a lovely cute little Japanese place on Holywell Street and if sushi is your thing you will not be disappointed. Simple food that is perfectly executed. What more could you wish for.
